Distribution of vegetable and fruit tree varieties varies tremendously in all sectors. However, plastic covers that are left behind after dumping can cause contamination in the soil.

A good solution for this is the Grobag, where units are made from korathini through the reserve scheme of Kattappana Block Panchayat.

If the seedlings are grown in such a Grobag, they will soon be dissolved in the soil after planting so as not to harm the environment. Kattappana Block Panchayat Reserve Project is aimed at environmental protection and plastics control. The plan is to manufacture women's

JLG Groups through carrier bags using natural materials such as paper, cloth and jute as an alternative to plastic carry bags.

Natural Carry Bag Unit of Kanchiyar Grama Panchayat has been started in Palakkad. Their unit consists of five people. The Dhanya unit consists of six members of the Dhanyari Panchayath Block building at

Vazhavarara, seven of the Upputhura Panchayat Dream Land Unit at the Upputhara Bypass Panchayath building and the Chakkapalam Panchayath unit of the Sambhavana Unit consisting of five.

Construction units have been started under the leadership of women's JLGs in the Twin Yar, Kanchiyar, Upputhara and Chakkupalam Gram Panchayats under Kattappana block. Each unit spent Rs. 3 lakh as bank loan. Of this, two lakh rupees is block panchayat subsidy. The units are working in cooperation with the Gram Panchayats.

In collaboration with Rural Self Employment Training Institute of Union Bank, Nedumkandam, Block Panchayat entrepreneurs were given 10 days training in paper, cloth and woolen carry bag making. Bigshoppers of various sizes and materials make everything from cloth bags, purses, files, ladies handbags to grow bags.

Most of the products are made from coat, jute, hard and fast torn fabrics and paper. Big shoppers range from Rs 10 to Rs 28, files priced between Rs 50 to Rs 150, purse bags ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 120 and shoulder bags ranging from Rs 150 to Rs.

Price also varies depending on the material and size. They are mainly bought by business houses, organizations and schools. The units will also produce the logo and print products of the company as per the order.

Understanding the need, Grobags expect to see more orders coming in next year.
President of the Block Panchayat, Sally Jolly said that the project is being implemented in conjunction with the State Government's 'Green Kerala Mission'.

The next step will be to provide training to school unit building units.

These washable carry bags allow consumers to save money and avoid excessive use of plastic kits. Such products with the 'Reserve Soil for Human' logo will also help to create awareness in the minds of buyers.
